How to Have and Maintain Healthy Hair

Having healthy hair is very important to women since this gives them added boosts of confidence to deal with different situations in their daily lives. When a person has healthy hair, she will be more confident with her looks and this would generally reflect also in her actions and emotional well-being. So in order to have and maintain healthy hair, here are some of the things that you should consider.

Proper Nutrition
As with everything else with the human body, having and maintaining healthy hair is affected by what and how we eat. Without the use of products, having healthy hair is an indication that the person is getting enough nutrients in the body. The tissue grows at an average of 1 cm per month regardless of hair products being used. Aside from being dependent on age, gender and genetics, its growth is also affected by the amount of nutrients that the body is getting. Stringy, dry and dull hair is often associated with certain nutritional deficiencies. So to have and maintain a shiny crowning glory, you should eat foods that are rich in protein, vitamin B12, iron and omega-3 fatty acids.

Washing and Drying
It is a common mistake for people to think that they need to wash it to become healthy and shiny. In fact, the truth is the opposite. A healthy person will have hair that will secrete natural oils that will be used in maintaining hair's natural beauty and shine. Washing became necessary in the past to remove the dirt and other foreign objects that get collected and tangled up in the hair and scalp. However, when you shampoo your hair too often, you are affecting the natural oils that the hair secretes eventually causing hair to become dry and dull. So if you must wash and shampoo your hair, make sure to limit it up to 3 times per week only. Also, do not rub your hair dry with a shampoo as this practice may also damage your hair's ability to secrete natural oils.

Using Products
Naturalists would go against using products on your hair. They believe that regular brushing of your hair will stimulate hair to release their natural oils. However, if you must use hair products, make sure that the products that you will use are compatible with your hair. For example, if you have dry hair, make sure that the products that you will use on your hair are engineered to add moisture to your hair. Likewise, if you have too oily hair, there are products that you can use to absorb some of the excess oils leaving you with a healthier looking hair.

The best way to keep it healthy and beautiful is to first determine its state. If it is already healthy, the best way to maintain it is not to do anything. However, if you must need to style your hair differently and need to use products, then make sure that these products will be compatible for your hair. Once you have used hair products, make sure to give your hair time off from products so that it can naturally rejuvenate.
