So if you are looking to keep ahead of the trend this season, then you'll want to check out our guide below. You find the looks that you’ll need to keep your beauty guru status on your blog, social media, and in real life. Enjoy!
Shaved Undercuts And Non - Natural Hair Colours
So if your hair is a real hair color, then you need to rethink. This season it's all about pastels and grays. Basically, it's on trend if it needs a good coat of peroxide before you apply the color that you actually want.
Don't be afraid to mix those colors either. Most people seem to be loving the multi-color pastel hair look. Team this with a hot braid or a 90’ style double bun, and you're onto a winner.
Of course, if you want to be part of the uber cool crew, then you going to need to up your undercut game as well. No longer does it make you edgy enough to just have a shaved part to your hair do. Now you have to get some sweet geometric pattern cut into it like these too.
The best thing about it is that if you don't like them, you can cover them up with the rest of your hair and they grow out pretty quick as well.
If you are not a fan of glitter, you may want to rethink your position going into FW 2016. Glitter is everywhere.
One of the more outlandish trends that you will see a lot more of on Instagram is the glitter roots look. This is where you apply a glitter gel to the root of your hair. Sounds crazy, look pretty cool. How practical it is going to be if you get caught in a downpour, we don't know, but 'pride comes before fall,' and all that.
The next thing you need to be looking at is glitter nails. These are about to become huge this season and it a nice way of rocking this trend without being too 'unicorn' about the whole thing.
You have a choice of what type of glitter nails to wear. The first is the all over glitter, which is a bold and festive look. You can use pretty much any glitter nail polish. But make sure you apply it correctly so it doesn't look like you've been raiding your little sister's play set. Remember the trick is to cover it with a rock hard top coat!
The other way to have glittery nails this season is to go for a gradated look over another color. This can be subtle or dramatic depending on your mood and the occasion.
Lastly, in relation to glitter, there is a mammoth trend towards the glitter lip. Not shimmery lipstick, but actual real life pieces of glitter pressed onto the lip. As you can tell it's probably more of a night out look, where you get to sip cocktails through a straw than anything else. Whether such a look would stand up to you eating something is anyone's guess?! But who cares, it look amazing, and you can do it yourself pretty easily.
All you need is to apply your lipstick in the usual way. If you are using a colorful glitter, then either use a matt lipstick color or one to match. If you are using a red or pink glitter, try to get as close the colour as possible. Then apply another of lipstick and work quickly while it's still tacky. Use a fine tipped makeup brush and charge it up with the glitter you have chosen and apply it to the lip.
Remember that the glitter should be makeup grade and safe for use on the face. The clumpy stuff kids use on their macaroni pictures isn't what you want.
Then apply the glitter to your lips, pressing them together to ensure a good stick. It's as simple as that! Try to not sue a matte lipstick as this may not be as sticky as a sheer or glass and you may have trouble getting the glitter to stick.
Talking of matte lips, that is another one of the this season's biggest trends. The look inspired by Kylie Jenner is to have full lips, decorated with liquid lipstick in a matte nude color.
In fact, Kylie Jenner has inspired lots of lip plumping trends from weird devices to popular treatments like cosmetic fillers.
To achieve this look, you will need to go through several stages. The first is that you cover your lips with your foundation. This gives you a clear base to work with. It also makes sure that the color that you use shows true when you are wearing it.
The next job is to line your lips. Start from the cupid's bow on the right side and draw a line from the top at a gradual angle. Then when you do the line from their side they should cross in the middle just under the Cupid’s Bow. This will help you get the right shape for your lips. Remember too, that lining them carefully around the outside or 'overlining' as it's called can make them look bigger.
Then apply your chosen shade. Most liquid lipsticks come with a wand, so it's best to use that. You may get some streaking if the pigment isn't distributed through the product. But usually applying another coat will correct this.
Ok, it is Halloween soon, but we are not talking about the the type that they nail down coffin lids with. We are, in fact, talking the new and most on-trend nail shape for the coming season. They are like stiletto nails but with the top filed off into a straight line. This gives them that coffin shape. Team this with a matte polish for a super on-trend look.
All Things Mermaid / Unicorn / Galaxy
As you may have gathered from some of the suggestion above, the whole 'undersea space unicorn' thing is still going pretty strong. Pastel hair, glitter and undercuts are still going to be your edgy go to look for AW2016. In fact people are now taking these themes and running with them and are apply them to whole makeup and fashion looks such as these.
